Reception Etiquette
Filed under: Receptions, WeddingsQ. My vendors have let me know that they expect to be fed at the reception. Is this something I need to provide for them, or should I tell them to forget it?
A. Most wedding vendors do get fed at receptions. They have been working hard for you to make your day perfect! And while you are paying them quite a bit of money, it is something that will make them work just a little harder! Besides do you really want someone passing out from hunger?
Most catering companies will prepare “extra” food just in case for most weddings. If you are worried there will not be enough, talk with the caterer and find out
if they could put together a small vendor buffet, sandwiches, drinks etc. There are always plenty of hors d’oeuvres to go around and items like party mints and nuts. Make it clear that they are there to work and while you don’t want them feeling the pangs of hunger, you don’t want it to interfer with their jobs. Technically you are employing them so have your
coordinator periodically give them 15 min breaks. As long as there are other to fill in while that person is away. Just make sure they aren’t visiting the open bar!
