Invitations and Preparations
Filed under: Receptions, WeddingsQ. When is the appropriate time to throw a bridal shower? And how much in advance do I send out the invitations? Also, do I throw a seperate one for
household items and lingerie?
A. The invitations for your bridal shower need to be sent out 45 days in advance. This provides the guests ample time to mark the date, decide whether to attend
and then go out to find the store you registered at and buy stuff that isn’t on the registry! The shower should then be at most a month before the wedding. As for a seperate shower for household items and one for lingerie, I say absolutely! The guests who will attend the BRIDAL shower are expecting an affair full of decorum. This is the one you invite the great-aunts to, and the cousins you want to show off your daughters 3 carat ring to. The Lingerie shower is the one you invite all your daughters loud bridesmaids and friends to. There will be scanty pieces of underwear to pass around and who knows what else! Do you really want to expose family members to this?? Get with the maid of honor and discuss your expectations for the bridal shower, It is not proper wedding etiquette for the mother of the bride to throw a shower, so enlist the help of the MOH. It is her job! But let them have fun with the Lingerie one.
